Science with kids is about curiosity, not labs. We do simple science experiments at home with stuff we already have—and the “why?” and “what if?” moments are worth it. We’re not experts; we’re just willing to wonder together.

Baking soda and vinegar in a bowl—fizz! A drop of food colouring for effect. Float and sink: gather objects, guess which will sink, then test. Ice and salt in a bowl—watch it melt faster and talk about why. Growing a bean in a jar with damp cotton wool is slow but rewarding; they check it each day. We always supervise and use safe, everyday materials. The goal is to wonder together, not to get the “right” answer. When they ask something we don’t know, we say “let’s find out” and look it up together. That’s how learning works.

Science is everywhere—kitchen, bath, garden. You’re already doing it. No degree required.
