Quick ideas

Mornings are rushed. We get it. We’ve found that a few small morning rituals or activities can make the start of the day feel calmer and more connected—even when we’re short on time. We’re not perfect; we just try to add one or two things that help.

When we have time we do five minutes of play—a quick game, a short story, or building something together—and it can set a positive tone. We let them help with a simple task: choosing clothes, putting cereal in bowls, or feeding a pet. That “I did it” feeling builds confidence. A song or a silly dance while getting dressed can ease resistance and add fun. We keep screens off until they’re ready when we can; it helps focus. A consistent order—wake up, toilet, clothes, breakfast, teeth—reduces battles because everyone knows what’s next. When things go wrong we try to take a breath. One calm moment can reset the mood.

You don’t need a long activity. A smile, a hug, and a bit of attention often matter more than a perfect routine. You’ve got this.
